Man 'tried to bribe police' at COVID-19 stop at NSW border
A man has been accused of trying to bribe a police officer with $1000 at the NSW-Victoria border.
Officers said they stopped a car from Victoria at the Barmah Bridge checkpoint about 2pm on Friday, asking the driver for his border permit to enter NSW.
The 66-year-old Victorian man was arrested after allegedly not being able to provide a valid permit and instead offering an officer an envelope containing $1000.
The man, who was charged with offering a bribe to a member of NSW Police, was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Moama Local Court on November 4.
