Police hope CCTV footage will identify dead man

Police are confident newly discovered CCTV footage will help identify a man whose body was found in the Maroochy River last month.

Investigators have found footage of the man at a Maroochydore shopping centre on November27.

The man’s body was found near the Maroochy River bridge three days later.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Mansfield says the footage is likely from the day the unknown man drowned.

He said it is likely the man, in his 40s, was in the water for a few days before his body was found.

Snr Sgt Mansfield said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Anyone who recognises the man is urged to contact police.
