Man rescued from cruise ship

A man in in his 70s has been winched from a cruise ship by the Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight rescue chopper crew.

The LifeFlight chopper flew to the ship, about 20 nautical miles off the Fraser Coast, on Wednesday night after the man sustained head injuries from a fall.

The critical care Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedic and LifeFlight rescue crew officer were winched down to the cruise ship.

The man was treated and assessed before being winched into the helicopter and flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
