The Sunshine Coast Falcons are through to the semi finals of the Q-Cup rugby league competition after a 42-36 win against Redcliffe.

The Falcons led 34-6 at halftime yesterday but the Dolphins dominated the second half through a glut of possession and injuries to three coast players.

Tyran Wishart scored two brilliant individual tries in the first half and he kicked six conversions and a penalty.

Coach Brad Henderson said it is the best the team has played for a “long time” and the second-half was difficult with players filling in, in unfamiliar positions as players were off injured.

At one stage the Falcons only had one fit player on the bench.

It’s the first time the coast side has defeated Redcliffe this year.

Henderson said the side was motivated to win and can improve for their next match.

He expects winger Grant Anderson and captain Luke Polselli to recover from head knocks, which saw them leave the field in the second half, for this Sunday’s game against the Central Queensland Capras in Rockhampton.
