It has been a busy few days for emergency services in our region on the weekend with two light plane crashes and a paragliding incident.
Yesterday morning a small plane crashed into the backyard of a home at Cootharaba while it was attempting to land at a nearby airstrip.
The plane, with two people onboard, clipped a tree while it was airborne, and cartwheeled end to end across the backyard before hitting another tree.
The pilot received minor injuries while his wife was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
On Friday, Lifeflight was again called to another plane crash about 20 nautical miles off Mooloolaba.
Two men escaped injury after they ditched their small Cessna in the ocean due to engine problems.
The had been flying to American Samoa when they had to turn back and alerted emergency authorities.
They were flown to hospital but were released soon after.
And on Saturday, a man in his 30s, suffered serious chest and back injuries when he fell 10 metres after his paragliding chute failed to open during a jump at the Cooloola Great Walk.
He was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
And yesterday a teenage boy was flown to a Brisbane hospital after being seriously injured when a tree branch fell on his head at Eumundi.
The boy was hit by the branch as the tree was being chopped down.
He has head and spinal injuries.
