Community dances are held at Kandanga Hall throughout the year. The next dance will take place on Saturday 16 May, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, with lessons for the Margo Waltz offered from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Entry is $15, which includes the dance, lesson, and a light supper served during the evening. All are welcome, including visitors, grey nomads, singles, and local community members. Live bands provide a range of music designed for traditional country hall dancing, including waltzing, jiving, and other easy-to-learn styles. Each dance includes lucky door prizes, lucky spots, and raffles. A schedule of dance dates for the year is enclosed, along with information on a new dance, “The Jolly Miller Mix Up.” The dances are beginner-friendly and supported by experienced dancers who assist newcomers. The group operates as a not-for-profit, retiree-led social dancing group and seeks support to help promote events within the Gympie Shire.
