Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD
One of the most addictive games for the Nintendo WII has just made a mega comeback on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and for PC through Steam!
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz is Back and now in HD.
Originally released on the Wii in 2006 (I know, makes you feel old doesn't it), Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is a remaster of that original game where you jump, tilt and roll into 100 single-player stages, 10 multi-player mini-games, revamped control schemes, updated graphics, and more.
The "more" part includes the use of Online Leader boards which is a first for the series. Players can now compete with others around the world through these leader boards for single-player, Time Attack and an all-new feature "the Mini-Game Decathlon Score Attack modes" where players can compete for the best score in the collection of 10 mini-games.
It's been so long since we've been able to play with the colourful characters of the Super Monkey Ball franchise and although I would have preferred to see an entirely new game built for the modern machines you can't deny in this era of remakes and remasters of video games this was a good choice as the original version of the game that relied heavily on the motion controls was a bit unforgiving, now that it's been modernised for the current systems it seems to be a much more polished play system and a bit more fun. After all it's more natural to control your monkey in mid air after a jump without your Wii remote waving around all over the place.
One unusual thing is they've cut down the mini games from 50 to 10, remasters are usually about adding rather than taking away, but it totally makes sense as it's done away with all the rubbish motion control ones and just kept the core best 10. Sometimes less is more.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is out now on all the above mentioned systems so its easy to jump in and relive the crazy antics and fun game play that has made this series a "must own" for many years.
